The company came into existence in 1974 when it was commissioned as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). Started under Operation Flood which was a dairy development program, Mother Dairy aimed to make sure there was a sufficient supply of milk in the country. A significant part of the company’s requirement of liquid milk is fulfilled through sourcing from village level farmer organizations and dairy cooperatives.
